Movie on Imran Khan: Will ‘Kaptaan’ hit a sixer?

A group of young independent filmmakers has undertaken the initiative of producing an independent feature film called Kaptaan, based on Imran Khan’s high-profile lifefollowing the end of his cricket career.
As Pakistan’s former captain or Kaptaan, Khan stamped the cricket field with his talent and charisma.  Years later, he is just as famous after transforming into a successful politician and social activist. The movie based on the former cricket star’s life, which is still in post-production phase, explores the experiences of a man who dedicates his life to his country while also struggling with personal and spiritual anguish.
Faisal Aman Khan, an independent filmmaker who is based in the UK, is directing the film. Aman Khan admitted that he had the idea of making this movie two years ago after he graduated from film school. According to his colleagues, Faisal met Khan several times during the research phase of the project to get his endorsement.
“Imran Khan was reluctant at first and claimed that it was more important to focus on other aspects of the country, Faisal’s persistence finally paid in ultimately convincing him,” said Naveed Anwar, the film’s assistant director and screenwriter. “We wanted to make a film that would project the positive side of Pakistan. It was hard as there are very few personalities in Paksitan that have a global appeal.”
Anwar, who has directed several short films, explained that the story centers on how Khan’s disappointment at Pakistan’s dismal state of affairs triggered him to enter the political arena. He also juxtaposes Khan’s struggle for Pakistan’s future with that of Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s.
The film also recreates scenes of major incidents such as his arrest at Punjab University in Lahore, his hunger strike while in jail and then certain intimate scenes with his ex-wife, Jemima Khan.
A big challenge before shooting the movie was the selection of the actor suitable for the protagonist’s role. After numerous screen tests and auditions for the lead role, the team decided to pick local model Abdul Mannan, who has an uncanny resemblance to the cricketer. Anwar said that it was especially difficult to find someone who could play Khan’s part, since there were very few people who match the physical features and demeanour of the 1992 World Cup captain.
Mannan, who is not an avid follower of Pakistani politics due to its dismal state, said that he had to study various video clips of the cricketer-turned-politician to do justice to the role. He claimed that the film provided inspiration and would make people realise the state of the country and hence take more interest in its affairs. “There have been films such as Jinnah and Gandhi, this is another inspiring story of a nation’s hero,” said Mannan. “There are things people forget about him.”
Mannan is paired with Saeeda Imtiaz, a Pakistani-American model based in New York, who is playing Jemima Khan’s role. Her role highlights the various challenges of living in Pakistan that Khan’s former wife faced and also highlights her complex relationship with the former cricket star. Imtiaz, who took nearly six months to prepare for her part, says “The way the movie is shot — the use of lighting and the fact that the filmmakers are young and full of ideas — will give the film a unique look,” said Imtiaz.
Insiders claim that the film will be ready for distribution this fall but are staying tight-lipped about the scheduled date for the release. Currently, the plan for distribution is that it will get a theatre-wide release in Pakistan and abroad as well. Over 107 actors have been used for the movie and the production team includes 12 people.

How to install Google's Chrome OS

The commercial Chromebooks are almost here, but if you want to try Chrome OS sooner than that you can do it. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as you might think. Here’s how to do it.
First, if you just try looking for “Chrome OS download” on Google, ironically, you’re going to have trouble finding it. Instead, you’re most likely to find links that will eventually take you toChrome OS Linux. This is not Google’s Chrome OS. It’s a Linux distribution that uses Chrome OS. It may be fine. I don’t know. I haven’t tried it, but it’s not the Chrome OS that you’re looking for.
The real Chrome OS, which is indeed based on Linux flavored by Ubuntu, is available as source code, along with build instructions, at theChromium OS Developer Guide. If you’re not an experienced programmer with access to a 64-bit Linux system, Ubuntu 10.04 Long Term Support (LTS) version for choice, you don’t want to go this route though.
For people who don’t program in C for a living, the smart thing to do is to download a Chrome OS virtual machine (VM) or USB stick live image from Hexxen.
These images, but I’ll let Hexxen explain what they’re up to: “Each day at around 6PM GMT the latest code is downloaded automatically and compiled into images you can try out, containing the latest changes. You can get images in either USB, VirtualBox or VMware format. For the best experience, it’s recommended you use the USB images. If these don’t boot on your device then go ahead and try the VirtualBox or VMware image. These should always work (assuming the build wasn’t broken at the time they were built), but you’ll find they’re quite slow, because there’s no graphical acceleration.”
These builds are, in my experience, safe. They are not, however, stable. These are beta programs with all the foibles that come with betas. In addition, some of them will indeed prove to be broken. Welcome to life at programming’s cutting edge.
Personally, I run Chrome OS hard drive images on VirtualBox on one of my Dell Inspiron 530S test boxes. These are powered by a 2.2-GHz Intel Pentium E2200 dual-core processor with an 800-MHz front-side bus. It has 4GBs of RAM, a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) drive, and an Integrated Intel 3100 GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator). But, for running Chrome as a VM, you can forget about the GMA. Chrome OS can’t use it.
Yep, sure enough. Chrome OS looks just like the Chrome Web Browser.
Yep, sure enough. Chrome OS looks just like the Chrome Web Browser.
I also use the USB versions on my Dell Mini 9. For Chrome OS, this early model Ubuntu Linux netbook, with its 1.6Ghz single-core Intel Atom 270 Diamondville with a gigabyte of RAM and am 8GB solid state drive (SSD) and Diamondville’s built-in 945GSE graphics is underpowered. Still, Chrome OS works better on it than it does on a VM.
If I were you, and wanted to play with Chrome OS, I’d used a more up-to-date low-end notebook. Chrome OS will use local storage-unlike what some people seem to think-and it’s optimized for SSDs. You can run it on a laptop or desktop with a conventional hard drive, but in my own experience it clearly does better with SSDs.
So, ready to give it a try? Well be aware that it’s going to be a bumpy ride at time and that Chrome OS’ interface is essentially the same as theChrome Web browser. You should know that you’re not going to see the kind of speed you’re used to with the Chrome Web browser. This is, one more time with feeling, a beta. But, if like me, your idea of a good time is playing with operating systems, you’re ready to go now. Good luck!

This is not Fox and Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand.

This is Biafo Glacier - which is a 63 km long glacier in the Karakoram Mountains, Pakistan meets the 49 km long Hispar Glacier at an altitude of 5,128 m (16,824 feet) at Hispar La (Pass) to create the world's longest glacial system outside the polar regions.
[It is considered to be the most beautiful glacier of the world].
It is also called as "Heaven on Earth".

Pakistan has the most beautiful view of mountains on the planet!

50 Fantastic Photos from 50mm Lenses

The 50mm prime lens is often a photographer’s favourite, perfect for portraits, product photography and low light conditions. They offer sharpness that zoom lenses cannot touch. Today, we have a collection of 50 great photos from around the internet that were made with the renowned 50mm lens.

50mm Prime

I used to not understood the 50mm prime. In my mind, it was pointless having a “fixed” lens when there were so many good quality zoom lenses around. However after borrowing a friend’s 50mm for a weekend I decided to purchase my own. I can tell you now it almost never comes off my camera. It has completely changed my attitude toward photography in the short time I have owned it.
With a prime lens, you have to work for your shots. No zooming in. You have to take a step closer or a step back. You suddenly think about framing your shots a lot more. You then take these techniques and apply them to any camera/lens combination.
The 50mm prime on average allows an aperture around F1.4 on a mid ranged price lens, F1.8 on the cheaper ones and F1.2 on the pro series. This allows for some seriously creative shots with a very shallow depth-of-field.
The sharpness of these lenses are amazing. I would suggest opening a couple of these photos up and looking at the large sized view as they are stunning.
If you have never used a 50mm, I suggest picking one up. The cheaper ranges start at around $130, which is pretty respectable in the current market.
